Smashing the American Dream

Deuteronomy 30:19-20:
19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

In Florida, it is illegal to shoot, starve, suffocate or kill a rat in any way that is considered inhumane.

Terry Schiavo of Florida has been starved to death at the request of her loving, adultery committing husband.

Therefore it is safe to assume that in Florida,

Rats > Humans.

So what is the BIGGEST deal with this? Well, she was starved. Fine, you know, if they are CERTAIN that she will never recover and be able to take care of herself, if they HAVE to put her down, I will accept that. But do NOT STARVE SOMEBODY JUST BECAUSE YOU "Wouldn't want to live like that". Euthenasia... Put her down gently. Don't think for a MOMENT that removing her feeding tube - that YOU put there - is a peaceful way to kill her.

The problem starts with the fact that she was put in the position to begin with. She was never given a real chance to recover partially, she became dependent on meds and equipment to keep her alive. She, in essence, became a machine.

A question you have to ask is... what IF she recovered enough to where she could be concious 100% of the time? Sure, she'd be crippled physically and mentally... but who decides that the life of a cripple is of less value than a person with no hinderances?

Having personally worked with mentally and physically handicapped students via my psychology class in high school, I can tell you, I sometimes ENVY them. They may not get to hit a baseball the way I can, or drive a car the way I can, but you know what? They have no inhibitions. They aren't worried about what people think of them. They aren't caught up in glamour and fashion. They don't judge you based on how you look. They know no evil and live based of the most pure instinct there is - love. They LOVE life, regardless of their "handicaps". They sometimes seems to enjoy life more than perfectly healthy people, who, including myself, tend to take what we have for granted.

Mr. Schiavo committed adultery. When you are married, you are legally bound to the other person... "For richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, for better of for worse, till death do we part". Well, it cost him a lot of money towards aid for Terry... She was sick... for the worse... and she wasn't dead - yet. Even so, he already had another woman in his life. He "moved on". 15 years can take its toll on a person... but he broke his wedding vows. If she had the ability to sign divorce papers, she would have. She would have been freed from his decisive role in whether or not she is allowed to continue to exist. But since she could not defend herself, he was STILL legally bound to her and held the legal right to decide her fate. He moved on emotionally, Terry was no more than a financial and moral obligation and hinderance to him. Terry had the right to die, yes... but she ALSO had the right to live on. To recover. But this "man" who owns the title to her life decided that she didn't matter anymore.

George W. Bush won the election. The republicans won the election. The "right wing, conservative, religious nut jobs" won the election.

But the Liberals are still trying to have their say.

In the words of Governer Schwartzennegger, "Why should I listen to losers?"

He caught SO much crap for saying that. But it's true!!!!! They lost the election!!!! Why should we listen to them!!! The majority ruled in favor of Bush, Bush's views, Bush's beliefs, Bush's leadership. NOT the liberals. The beauty of the country is that every citizen has a say, but when it comes to making final decisions, the majority who won the election should be allowed to HAVE the final say.

The problem with liberals is that they have no DEFINITION. By saying definition, I meant it in the sense of the word "DEFINITE", not "define".

It's all gray with them. "Define 'life'... define 'right and wrong'..." Conservatives at least see things in black and white terms. There IS right, and there IS wrong. Liberals believe that everyone should be allowed to define these terms according to what suits their current situation.
