Unraveling of Morality
Just some lyrics I wrote about a good friend whom I constantly worry about...
------------------
I can see you down in the dark
Hiding from reality, shielding your heart
You're afraid of another attack on your soul
Just another stab to deepen the hole
Being turned out by the influence of others
Basing your standards on the deeds of another
Taking bite after bite of the forbidden fruit
The serpent agrees, do what YOU want to do
It's painful to see a role model unfold
Losing all that made them so bold
The moves you make walking all alone
Hear the cries of the people who want you to come home
But you have more important matters to tend
I know you know that what happens now determines the end
Potentially fit to live as a queen
Caught up in sin, forgetting your dreams
I reach out my hand and you slap it away
You want to wake up, just not today
You're comfortable with who you've become
But those of us close to you ask where you've gone
I hope you come home soon...
